It seems any type of virus assistance won't work.
I even tried to get to Trend Micros site to run a free virus scan online and it wouldn't load the page.
On different customer PCs and internet connections, I've seen them slow and stop and then fail before the updates could complete.
The latest virus definitions are the core of your antivirus protection.--"If to err is human, then I must be some kind of human!" -Me advanced avg options then expanded "schedules" and clicked on "virus database update schedule".Note: If you connect directly to the internet, you can ignore this section as the Direct connection (no proxy) option is ticked by default.I am running Windows XP with SP1 and have AVG 8.0 free installed. My feeling is there's a problem with the AVG update server(s), unless someone at AVG tells me differently!Something over a week ago, it went all day without being able to finish an update. I'm in western Canada and have my autoupdate set for PM PDT.The update will then happen at that time, or within 2 hours following that time, each day. And I'm thinking that possibly the newer version starts checking too soon - before the LAN driver(s) have been initialized, and internet connection is verified.Just what it seems like may be the possibility to me.Regular virus definitions and program updates allow AVG Antivirus to protect your PC from the latest malware and other threats.By default, AVG Antivirus is set to update the Virus definitions and Program automatically whenever a new version is available.
